Plain Ol' Telephone Service Shutdown?
Post date: Apr 7, 2014 11:42:51 PM
As you may well know by now telecommunication companies are moving forward with the shutdown of POTS (Plain Old Telephone Service) and the PSTN (Public Switched Telephone Network). The sunset on the PSTN and POTS is estimated to begin in 2015 and will likely take a few years to convert existing phone customers to VoIP (Voice Over Internet Protocol) Services.
We do not currently know how this change will affect each of our customers systems. From our experience security systems do not work very well with VoIP phone services. That is exactly why for years now we have offered alternate communication methods to our customers who have VoIP phone service, or no home phone at all. We can send alarm signals to our central station using your existing high speed internet connection, a cellular connection, or both.
Here at Southeastern Alarm LLC we strive to be ahead of the curve and that is why we are making you aware of pending changes to your phone service and its effect on your security system. We are working proactively to attempt to make sure that this does not catch anyone by surprise and leave our customers unknowingly without service.
If you would like more information on our alternative communication services, please feel free to contact us at any time. We would be glad to discuss the many options we have available to keep your system communicating properly now and in the future.
